6th Annual Camano Island Habitat Garden Tour Sat, June 29, 2013 10am-4pm See stunning wildlife photographs from Linda Webb's yard in this HeraldNet article: "Helping wildlife, one yard at a time" Visit wildlife gardens at the Sixth Annual
Camano Island Backyard Wildlife Habitat Garden Tour Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 10 a.m. -
4 p.m. The event is free to the public. Pick up maps at Camano Multipurpose Center (AKA — The Blue Building), 141 E Camano Drive, the day of the
event. Besides a lovely garden tour on the island, the Wildlife Habitat Garden
Tour will demonstrate how people can live happily in harmony with nature, show
how any property can be a Backyard Wildlife Habitat, and promote awareness of
the National Wildlife Federation's Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program — just by
providing food, water, shelter and places to raise a family. These elements may
be present naturally or be provided by the homeowner. Gardens range from small
to large, simple to extravagant, forested to waterfront. Information on native
plants, wildlife, composting, as well as challenges faced on particular
properties will be available. Camano Island is the 10th community in the nation to be certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Community Wildlife Habitat with more than 805 individual properties certified as Backyard Wildlife Habitats. The tour is sponsored by the Camano Wildlife Habitat Project of Friends of Camano Island Parks. For more information about the tour, call 360-387-2236, or e-mail camanowildlifehabitat@gmail.com. |
