For those who are savvy in shorebird identification, or for those who wish to
develop such skills, consider joining the team of volunteers of the Port Susan
Bay Important Bird Area (IBA). The Pilchuck Audubon Society (www.pilchuckaudubon.org) is looking for more help in
collecting data on shorebird migration this spring around Camano Island,
Stanwood and Warm Beach. Dennis Paulson will be teaching a class in
identification skills to volunteers. Dennis Paulson is one of Washington's
foremost naturalists and author of Shorebirds of the Pacific Northwest,
Shorebirds of North America: The Photographic Guide, and other books. Volunteers are asked to commit to two surveys (no more than 2-hours per survey)
during April and May. Some experience and a spotting scope are helpful. Times
vary with the tides. For more details and to sign-up, please contact Kerry Marl
