Friends of Camano Island Parks
strives to keep Camano a wildlife friendly island by training volunteers to
serve as Habitat Stewards to help the community create, preserve, enhance, and
restore wildlife habitat. The training includes topics ranging from identifying
native birds and plants to creating a personal wildlife sanctuary. It will be offered at
the Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Thursdays Feb.
10, 17, 24, March 3, 10 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Training will include two
field trips Saturdays Feb. 12 and March 5 from 9 a.m. to Noon, as well
as a work party and celebration March 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also
be optional work parties at the Camano Wildlife Habitat demonstration gardens
(Four Springs Lake Preserve and Camano Senior and Community Center). The
training costs $40 for course expenses and includes a 30-hour volunteer
commitment to assist FOCIP’s Camano Wildlife Habitat Project. To register for
