Friends of Camano Island Parks and Snohomish Conservation District will offer a 2015 Habitat Stewards Training Program on Camano Island. The Habitat Stewards Training Program empowers volunteers to become stewards to help the community create, preserve, enhance, and restore wildlife habitat. The training includes topics ranging from native plant identification to creating a personal backyard wildlife sanctuary at your own home. East Camano Drive, Thursdays Feb. 12, 19, 26, March 5, 12 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m., and include two Saturday field trips (8:30 to 11:30 a.m.) Feb. 21 and March 7. There will also be optional hands-on work parties offered at the Camano Wildlife Habitat demonstration gardens (Four Springs Lake Preserve and Camano Center). The training costs $40 for course expenses and includes a 30-hour volunteer commitment to assist FOCIP’s Camano Wildlife Habitat Project.
