Port Susan Open House at South
Camano Grange

A well-known local author and
historian, and a marine resources expert, will be the featured speakers at a
free Open House. The doors open at 8:30 AM and there will be free coffee and
snacks. At 9 AM, Tamara Neuffer, Outreach Coordinator for the Stillaguamish
Tribe Natural Resource Department, will highlight the diversity of marine and
wild life in Port Susan. She will also cover current research findings and how
the Stillaguamish Tribe is working to improve conditions. The second speaker is
Karen Prasse, local historian, librarian, and author of ‘Images of America:
Camano Island’. She presents historical photographs, maps, and written accounts
to illustrate the water routes and economic uses of Saratoga Passage, Skagit
Bay, Port Susan and the Stillaguamish River delta for early transportation and
settlement. The Open House is one of four being held as part of the Keep Port
Susan Healthy project, funded by the Puget Sound Partnership through the local
Snohomish-Camano EcoNet group. Families are welcome, no registration required. |
