Port Susan Open House at South Camano Grange
Saturday, September 21,  9 a.m. to noon
South Camano Grange, 2227 S. Camano Road, Camano Island
A well-known local author and historian, and a marine resources expert, will be the featured speakers at a free Open House. The doors open at 8:30 AM and there will be free coffee and snacks. At 9 AM, Tamara Neuffer, Outreach Coordinator for the Stillaguamish Tribe Natural Resource Department, will highlight the diversity of marine and wild life in Port Susan. She will also cover current research findings and how the Stillaguamish Tribe is working to improve conditions. The second speaker is Karen Prasse, local historian, librarian, and author of ‘Images of America: Camano Island’. She presents historical photographs, maps, and written accounts to illustrate the water routes and economic uses of Saratoga Passage, Skagit Bay, Port Susan and the Stillaguamish River delta for early transportation and settlement. The Open House is one of four being held as part of the Keep Port Susan Healthy project, funded by the Puget Sound Partnership through the local Snohomish-Camano EcoNet group. Families are welcome, no registration required.
