Sunday, Oct. 23, 9-12 noon Fall Birding Field Trip on Camano Island

posted Oct 22, 2011, 9:01 PM by Roxie Rochat
Pam Pritzl, Skagit Audubon, and Roxie Rochat, Habitat Steward, will lead a tour of rich bird-viewing areas on Camano Sunday, Oct. 23, 9 -12 noon. Destinations may change because of the weather or notable bird activity, but past expeditions have taken us to the shoreline and marsh area trails at English Boom Historical Park and other locations on Skagit Bay. Iverson Beach Preserve is another target birding location on Port Susan Bay featuring diverse habitats that include extensive salt-water mudflats, marsh and beach, with shrubs and cropland nestled against a forested hillside. Meet at Terry's Corner Park and Ride, 860 N. Sunrise, behind Camano Island Coffee Roasters (green bldg.) to stage in carpools and get directions. Dress in layers appropriate for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring binoculars or scopes; sorry, no dogs allowed on the guided walk. Tour will take place rain or shine; no reservations required. For information, call 360-387-2236 or e-mail camanowildlifehabitat@gmail.com
