WANTED: Pigeon Guillemot Nest Sites on Camano

posted May 14, 2020, 5:19 PM by Roxie Rochat

From the May 14th edition of the Sound Water Stewards Newsletter:

Numerous bluffs on Camano could have colonies; there are certainly lots of cavities on the bluffs, both east and west sides. We need your help this year to find the active nest sites! Next time you're on the beach, look for cavities like this one and let Joan know.

The Pigeon Guillemot Research Group has wonderful pictures and videos, so you can see what nesting cavities and these entertaining birds look like. A few Camano volunteers in 2020 can make an enormous contribution while staying safely on Camano. There is still time to get involved. The website provides the updated 2020 forms, protocols and online training.
If you have seen active nest sites or know of possible nest sites on Camano bluffs, please take pictures and send the location to Camano Coordinator Joan Schrammeck. Thank you!
