We know that
native plants are beneficial in our backyard habitats, but how do we
choose what to plant and how do we get it started? Wednesday, Jan. 21, 7
pm at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 N East Camano
Drive (the Blue Building), Kristin Marshall and Alex Pittman of the
Snohomish Conservation District will share with us how to select
healthy, appropriate plants for the yard, how to plant them, and how to
give them the good start they need to get established and thrive. They
will also introduce several planning tools, native plant nurseries, and
other resources available to backyard gardeners planning native planting
projects. Kristin, Habitat Restoration Specialist, and Alex, Habitat
Restoration Technician, have worked for the past several years on stream
and wetland habitat restoration projects in Western Washington and
specialize in planning, installation, and maintenance of small and
large-scale native planting projects. The Camano Wildlife Habitat
Project, sponsored by Friends of Camano Island Parks, hosts public
presentations the third Wednesday of the month. For information, call
