The Port Susan Snow Goose & Birding Festival website has maps and descriptions of many local birding hotspots, a clickable list of local birds you're likely to see, and a links to a PDF file and an Excel spreadsheet that you can download to keep track of which birds you've seen.
The Salal Native Plant Garden is located behind the Master Gardener Discovery Garden at the NW Research and Extension Center on Memorial Highway (16650 State Route 536), west of Mount Vernon. Built by volunteers from the Salal Chapter of the WA Native Plant Society, the garden is a tremendous resource for homeowners who want to learn how to incorporate native plants into their landscaping.
